You know I never could figure out what house I’d be in. I mean if you think of it I liked Gryffindor for their bravery but I’m not brave, I liked Slytherin because my favorite color is green, I liked Hufflepuff because loyalty and acceptance is a trait I value above all others and I never ever thought I’d be clever or awesome enough to be a Ravenclaw.
Heh…guess I underestimated myself, Clearly I am a Ravenclaw it makes so much sense now I don’t know why I never saw it before. I mean I practically lived in the library all through middle and high school, my favorite past time is reading and drawing and I’ve always been a bit of an eccentric. yup proud Ravenclaw here!!!
I am dying of excitement!!!!!! I cannot express my joy ahhhhhhhhjdojaoifuuwerfjqlancajvsfd!!!!!!!!! Pottermore here I come!!!
I went to see the last Harry Potter movie yesterday, there are no words in any language that can begin to describe the emotions this film evoked in me and is still affecting me.
There is no .gif that can do it justice either, my brain is so jumbled now, I am just so happy and horribly sad. This has been a 10 year journey for me, and Harry Potter is one of the highlights of those years and my adolescence. I was 12 when the first movie came out and I started reading the books (I watched the movie on DVD after I had read the first 4) and now as it comes to a close I’m 22 years old and I feel like both the franchise and myself as well as this great community has hit a milestone.
(this is the Gryffindor shirt I wore to the screening and a picture of my movie ticket)
In short I would like to express my emotions in the form of images;
First to express my complete joy at the perfect way in which the film brought to a close the stories of all my favorite characters which include: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna, Ginny, Mrs. Weasley, Minerva , Lily Potter, Hagrid…. and the list goes on.
And second to express my utter desolation at saying goodbye to characters that have been my freinds, and a magical world that was my home away from home (seeing Hogwarts being torn down affected me more than I expected)
And last I would like to extend a big Thank you to these people, it has been a truly magical journey.
(side note: look for more entries next week regarding HP, I’m dedicating this week to a series of posts about Harry Potter)
Clearly the man IS JACE. Consider me Sold.
I don’t have much to say about this until I actually see the movie and see him play Jace I can’t honestly judge.
But I will say this, the man looks awesome next to gorgeous red-haired women…
(p.s. anyone else thinking that Clary and Dumbledore have the exact same taste in men, who’d have thought?)
We were absolutely over the moon when we found out Haley choose to wear a Tony Cohen garment again. Pairing it up with her amazing version of Rhiannon, and the wind machine ;) she was an absolute vision.
Sad to see her go, but we’re sure we’ll hear more of her: such a talent!
Moreover, we were thrilled to see that Haley wore a dress from a collection inspired by Stevie Knicks: it was the sole inspiration/mood/theme for the Fall Winter 2010 designs. On Haley, the dress and the vision actually came to life.
Fashion and Meaning, Haley is star a professional, and a class act. This is a performer who knows how to give a good show and exudes her talent and love of music. I cannot express my disappointment in American Idol this season this is the first season in 10 years which I am not fond of either of the final two (I do love Lauren and Scotty they just have been so bland and beige and pagent princessy to me as opposed to the other more creative contestants )
It’s just I was so excited with the top 13, with singers like Casey, James, Haley, Paul, Pia, Jacob I felt for once we had group of people that was going turn a popularity contest that is about singing and turning into a show about MUSIC. You know the kind of young talent that would shake up the radio and bring on revolutions in music history. I think Lauren and Scotty and great, great to cram into music industry pop machine, mold into the kind of pop stars that make money and are forgotten 100 years down the line and the kind of artists that are so young and so usable that they ensure the same crappy music continue to be produced and marketed to the masses. (I don’t blame Lauren and Scotty I blame the industry and what it’s sure going to do with these very young very impressionable teens, they are robbing them of the chance to develop as creative artists and I’m glad at least that this won’t happen to Haley)
On a side note, anyone think the idol stylists this season had a love for Haley because seriously she’s one of the few contestants who manages to look good on stage, and age appropriate,
Hey all fellow Vampire Academy fans!(note some spoilers for LS in this post)
While watching the royal wedding I had a sudden desire to imagine what Lissa’s wedding to Christian would be like? and of course what would she wear?!
So I set off to design a wedding gown fit for a Moroi Queen, after much contemplation I came up with this;
Lissa being a traditional person would have a traditional ceremony, so I needed a dress that covered her arms and gave a classic regal sense.
The dress is made of Ivory silk with a sleek trumpet silhouette to emphasize Lissa’s height and shoulders, the back has three layers of silk overlay-ed with tulle to form a long dramatic frame that contrasts with the stark simplicity of the front of the dress. the dress is embellished with pearl and Chrystal beading in the form of a cascading trellis on the neckline, shoulders and hem.
Lissa wears a white and yellow diamond tiara modeled after the tiaras of eastern European royal jewels, her hair is slicked back and her veil is soft layers of tulle that reaches the ground.
For her second dress (far right) I chose a comfortable empire waist so she can dance happily at the reception, the skirt is made of billowing chiffon and tulle layers, the belt is cream velvet and the bodice is corseted silk with a layer of lace that forms an asymmetrical shoulder.
Her shoes are ivory silk with crystal and pearl embellishments.
If enough people like this I might do Rose’s dress next.
Is it bizzare that I look forward to this event more so than any of those award show stuff? I mean this is really when we get to see some of the most creative works from some of my favorite designers actually worn out. And it’s so much fun!!
Let me say this though that this years collection featured a number very boring very safe dresses that left me feeling very underwhelmed, I mean come on people look like a red carpet carboard princess any other day give me somehting cool here, be something else.
so without futher ado these are some of my favorite pieces from some of the coolest desingers for this year’s gala.
KStew, I do actually love your hit miss fashion sense, and I love love this, check out those shoes, probably the best example of a print on the carpet as well. also goes to show not everything has to be skin tight to work, I like the experimentation with the shape and length of the dress.
Givenchy had what I think as one of the most exciting collections for spring 2011, and It makes me oh so happy to see it worn out. I love the pop of color in the back, the feather detailing and the oh so sexy peek-a-boo(sp?) bits.
Marchesa is probably the designer I associate most with fairy tales and princesses, their treatment of tulle and organza like fabrics and well as their exemplary work in embellishments and beading make them a very dramatic brand. Miranda Kerr with her oh so doll like face takes this tutu of a confection and it transforms her into a figure from the Russian ballet for the night.
Stella McCartney, little Hailee Steinfeld, a lot of the younger people did wonderful last night (see the fanning sisters) but Hailee stood out for me first of all because this piece is very reminecent of McQueen so she is on target for the night plus this dress is cooking up inspiration for some hunger games inspired fashion soon. (I hope all those Hailee for Katniss fans out there notice what I just did right there;) )
Finally, last night’s event was in honor of the late great Alexander McQueen, unfortunate most everyone who showed up in his magnificent work were a pure disappointment. I expected more drama to be honest and what we got was some stars who treated the work like they were terrified of it and played it so safe. I’m featuring this number worn by Sarah Jessica Parker mostly because of how much I adore this dress, look at the way it fits on the model and the detailing is spectacular.
note, I really need to work up a McQueen tribute soon, will put on my to do list.
So what where your favorites I’d love to know!! did any of this year’s runway favorites not make an appearance last night? what would you have liked to have seen?
I never saw Princess Diana’s wedding but my mother was my age when she watched her get married. My mother has always had a deep love for the princess and it is from her that I inherited that love.
The wedding of William and Catherine was wonderfull, but like many others I felt and knew that there was something missing.
This is my attempt to reconcile my need for Diana’s presence at her son’s wedding, I placed her in between her boys, and slightly above the Queen( due to the fact that I still hold a grudge against her for Diana’s sake) It was a quick job on photoshop so I know it’s not perfect, but well this is what it should have been. (I left in Camilla because I really didn’t want any controversy and well its gotten to a point where she is almost non-erasable, like a stain that won’t come out)
